I’m planning some experiments to create VR experiences that leave lingering effects even after taking off the headset. Have any existing games or experiences ever done that to you? How did they manage to confuse your senses to the point where you still felt the impact outside of VR?
It was a mix of in-game and real-world interactions. I was playing an MR game and accidentally picked up a real object, then tried to place it on a virtual shelf. Of course, it just fell straight to the ground. The only other time I’ve felt affected outside of VR was after playing Dirt Rally. The crashing and braking caused some motion sickness, and even after taking off the headset, I could still feel the motion for quite a while.
In Fallout VR, I swung at a raider, and when I took off my headset, I realized I had left a scuff mark on my door.
Taking my headset off after playing Bonelab for the first time was like an out-of-body experience, lol. It was freaky, I felt like my arms weren’t quite right somehow.
There was an Air Force halo jumping game on the PSVR1 that really messed with my senses. For about an hour after playing, I kept feeling like I was still falling.
After playing VR Club Live Tripica and taking off the VR headset and haptic vest, I felt like I had just stepped off a club dance floor. That app did something different to my senses. I was more calm and focused afterward. Now, I use it every morning for an endorphin boost, it works better than coffee…
After my first session with Boneworks, my thumbs felt like they weren’t really mine for days. The real world seemed more 3D for a few days, with things like phone screens and monitors appearing to hover in mid-air, almost like a 3D movie effect.
You should try Google Earth VR too😂
