I’m working on a project and wanted to hear from the community about how you envision input in AR. Do you think a lack of reliable ways to type, write, or draw is a barrier to people adopting AR?
Rings and wrist bands with gesture sensing could be great for mouse functions. Phones with multitouch could add keyboards and drawing pads too. Smartwatches might combine those features. But a downsized phone display might be too small for some users.
How would you feel about a stylus pen that connects to the headset via Bluetooth? A touch on any surface would be immediately relayed.
Depends on the use case. Is it for everyday glasses or specific applications?
For productivity and creativity applications.
So it works like VR pen input? Are you planning interactions with physical objects too?
Exactly! It won’t need a touch-sensitive surface like a tablet. Picture using a VisionPro for productivity, setting it up flat on your desk. Any touch would show up for writing or drawing.
Are you thinking of using AR and a stylus to replace a Wacom tablet? That could be cool, but some artists find stylus surfaces too slippery. An AR app using a physical canvas might feel more natural.
Our product aims to eliminate the need for a Wacom tablet. It’ll work on any surface, which is a game changer.
Also, AR could help with UI menus getting in the way. Floating menus could really expand the workspace.
It should connect to a phone or iPad for power and processing. That’s key.
I hear you, but that holds back mainstream adoption. With better processors and cloud capabilities, we could access our digital world from glasses soon. Is input still a barrier?
