Hi there, here’s Alessio from the r/Spectacles team. Just wanted to share our new samples to get you started if you are interested in building AR apps. You can check them out here: Spectacles Samples. Would love to hear what you think!
Hey Alessio. Congrats on the new job. Do you still do your podcast series?
Very little time for that unfortunately. I’d love to pick it up again in the future, but expect a lot of dev resources/tutorials/talks.
This is awesome. I’ve been wanting to get into AR development. Any tips for beginners?
Definitely check out the README in the GitHub repo. It has some great starting points for beginners.
Are there any specific projects in the samples that you recommend starting with?
I’d suggest starting with the ‘Tic Tac Toe’ project. It’s simple and fun to build.
Can I use these samples for commercial projects?
Spectacles uses SnapOS and Lens Studio for spatial experiences. They have great documentation to help you out.
What are the prerequisites for using the Spectacles samples? Do I need to set up anything specific?
Yes, you’ll need Git LFS for large files and possibly an OpenAI API key for some functionalities.
Is there a community or support for developers using the Spectacles samples?
Absolutely, you can connect with the community for support. It’s a great place for collaboration.
I’m curious about the ‘High Five’ project. How does that work?
The ‘High Five’ project allows for real-time collaborative AR experiences. It’s super engaging!
What’s the best way to test these projects on Spectacles?
You can test directly on the device or use the Lens Studio for a more streamlined approach.
Are there any limitations with the current samples?
Some projects require enabling Experimental APIs and Extended Permissions on the device.
Is there a roadmap for future updates to the samples?
