I got the MQ 3S, but I’m thinking about upgrading to the MQ 3. My main issue with the 3S is that no matter how I adjust the headset, the center is sharp while the corners get blurry. I’ve read this might be due to the fresnel lenses. If I switch to the MQ 3, will the image be clearer across the whole lens? Also, any tips for improving FPS in games? Everything seems to be running below 30 fps and it feels pretty choppy.
They should have never called it the Q3S. It’s really the Q2+. So yes, the Q3 is better. But have appropriate expectations. Contrary to all the hype, the Q3 isn’t clear ‘edge to edge’. It’s more like clear ‘kind of close to the edge’.
It doesn’t have to be edge to edge, but I’m bothered that I can barely move my eyes before it starts getting blurry. If the Q3 solves this, I’m happy. Would you say 200€ is worth the difference?
Yes, there’s a night and day difference between the fresnel lens and pancake lens.
You should be able to do more than just barely move your eyes. The Q2 lenses are pretty bad, but they aren’t that terrible. Are you too far from the lenses? Does the Q3S have a spacer like the Q2? If yes, try taking it off.
Yes, definitely… it’s in focus and clear pretty much wherever you look. Just put it on and enjoy it; it should be a nice step up from the Q2/Q3S. Not sure it will solve the 30fps issue though, as that depends on the games you’re playing, but most I’ve tried have been smooth.
I’ve played some trials and free games like: Powerwash Simulator VR (looked fine), Batman Arkham Shadows (a bit choppy), Population One (was alright), and Premium Bowling (looked okay, but movements could be smoother).
