Hey everyone, I’m a freshman at Carnegie Mellon, eager to dive into AR development! I’m interested in learning about the development process, best practices, and common challenges AR devs encounter. I’d love to hear about your experiences from both pros and enthusiasts!
If anyone’s open for a quick chat, I’ve set up a Calendly link here: Calendly - AR Exploration Chat. If you’re short on time, I’d really appreciate any advice or insights in the comments. Thanks so much for helping me get started in the world of AR!
Happy to see new devs getting into AR! My advice: learn Unity or Unreal Engine and start experimenting with simple AR overlays. Also, practice UI/UX for AR—how people interact in 3D space is different from 2D.
One big challenge is dealing with hardware limitations, like processing power and battery life, especially on mobile. Testing across devices early on can save you headaches!
If you’re interested in AR glasses, follow updates on waveguides and displays. It’s where the industry is heading, but it also presents some unique UX challenges!
