Hi, I’m looking for my first VR headset and can’t find a good option. I’m seeking a lightweight (sub 500g) VR for PC under $1000. Bigscreen Beyond looks good, but at $2000 with controllers and base stations, it’s too expensive. I’m concerned about neck strain, which is why I want a lightweight one. Any recommendations?
If you use halo-style straps, the weight is distributed more evenly across your head and it doesn’t cause neck pain.
Typically, the balance of the headset is more important than just the weight. A Quest headset with a battery on the back is heavier but feels lighter when balanced correctly.
The only two lightweight headsets are BigScreen Beyond and MeganeX Superlight 8k. Both are extremely expensive, though.
If weight isn’t as crucial, do you think the Vive Pro 2 can be a good start for a beginner? I’ve been hesitant because it’s 0.8 kg.
The Vive Pro 2 is a bad choice for anyone.
It’s outdated and overpriced. Do you have a specific reason why you’re looking at it?
It seemed like a good all-around option except for the controllers. Most sites say it’s decent, but now I’m unsure. Most recommendations I’ve seen are for the Quest 3.
