Trying to record multiple games by capturing the game window has been tough because not all games have the same spectator recording options. The only option I’ve found is to just mirror the display, but even at High settings, the resolution is pretty lacking. I mostly play shooters and aim with my left eye, but most games record your right eye, so you can’t see what you’re shooting at. Is there any other way to record? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
OBS has a plugin that lets you record the SteamVR view. I recommend trying that out to see if it works better for you.
I tried it and it completely killed my Steam. Had to reinstall everything.
Oh no, that sucks. Did you check if your OBS and SteamVR are updated? Sometimes compatibility issues can cause problems.
There’s also an OpenVR plugin for OBS that works well. Might be worth checking out if you’re having issues with the other plugin.
I didn’t know about that! I’ll look into it. Have you tried it yourself?
Yeah, it worked pretty smoothly for me. Good quality and no major issues.
Have you considered using a capture card? It might give you better quality without stressing your system too much.
I haven’t tried that yet. Do you think it’s worth the investment?
Definitely! It can save you a lot of hassle and usually provides great quality.
I had trouble with resolution too. Sometimes adjusting the settings in the VR game itself can help improve the output.
I’ll check that out. Thanks for the tip!
