Gaming on Apple Vision Pro could see huge growth soon

I read about how gaming on the Apple Vision Pro could really take off soon, according to some game makers. This headset is priced at a whopping $2500, which raises a lot of questions about accessibility and whether developers will actually jump on board. What do you guys think? Is gaming on this platform viable?

Games like keep the poor person out of your mansion? It’s a $2500 USD headset. IDK how many people can afford that and actually want to game on it.

Right? This is what I thought when I first played Fragments on the Hololens. I checked out the dev tools and knew gaming wasn’t going to happen on it. It was tough to develop for and Unity wasn’t capable at the time.

Exactly. I remember the Hololens being super limited. Do you think it will be different for the Vision Pro?

Fast forward to now, a lot has improved. But the development license for the AVP, along with Unity Pro and the headset price, makes it accessible only to cash-up game devs. And with such low user numbers, why would they?

Does this mean Apple has come to their senses and will open up to Steam?

Yeah, or it couldn’t. Apple is pretty strict with their ecosystem. Would they actually allow Steam to work on it?

Honestly, who knows? They like their walled garden approach. But if gaming takes off, they might reconsider.
