Could 2025 actually be VR gaming's big year?

I’ve been reading some buzz about 2025 potentially being a huge year for VR gaming. With all the new tech and features coming in, I’m curious if you all think this could be a game-changer for the industry. What do you think? Any thoughts on what might make this year so special?

It all depends on how far Valve was able to move ahead with Foveated Rendering… We’ll find out soon. In its current status, it’s a huge waste to render an entire screen in that high resolution when our eyes can only see 1-5% of it in that detail.

For me, mods really took center focus in 2024 with the launch of UEVR and the Luke Ross mod getting new features like FOV optimization and DLSS. I’ve been enjoying some AAA games we would otherwise never have gotten in VR without these mods.

Honestly, I feel like raw power combined with super sampling is the way to go. I’m not too keen on all this AI stuff. I want to see solid gameplay without relying too much on tech gimmicks.

I think 2025 could be a year for VR beyond gaming. With Google and Samsung entering the space, things are looking up for productivity and social apps.

I think the mods are doing a lot of work promoting VR. I’ve spent most of my time playing PCVR mods. It’s great that I can play games with others who only have flat screens.
