Today, I’m super excited to introduce a useful multiplayer feature to help you create colocated mixed reality games in Unity using Meta’s latest multiplayer building blocks. Full video available here. I’m covering the entire colocated setup workflow, which includes creating a Meta app in the Meta Horizon Development Portal, setting up test users, and developing both basic and advanced colocated Unity projects. Plus, I’ll show you how to use the Meta XR Simulator and Immersive Debugger for multiplayer testing, and how to build and upload projects to Meta release channels. Check out additional info on Meta’s SDK & Colocation.
Sounds interesting! What’s colocated mean exactly?
Colocated means players are in the same physical space but using VR. It makes for some fun interactions!
I’m curious about using the Meta XR Simulator… any tips?
For sure! It’s great for testing out your multiplayer setups without needing all the headsets right away. Just make sure to check your connection.
What’s the Immersive Debugger? Sounds fancy lol.
It helps debug your multiplayer sessions in real-time, so you can see what’s working and what’s not. Very handy!
Is this feature available for all Unity versions?
I think it works best with the latest versions. Always good to check the Meta docs for specifics!
I’m looking forward to trying this out! Thanks for sharing all this info.
