I’m diving into AR development for both HMDs and phones. I’m curious if there’s a recommended setup to kick things off. I have experience with Unity and Quest Pro, but is that really the best way to go? Also, I’m considering getting the new M4 MacBook Pro—think it’s a solid choice for dev work? And if I want to develop for phones or tablets, which ones do you guys recommend?
I’d say Unity + Quest Pro is a great combo! The M4 MacBook Pro should handle AR development pretty well too. Super powerful!
What do you mean by it being powerful? Like for rendering or something?
Yeah, for rendering and multitasking. It can handle a lot of apps running at once without lag.
For phones, I’d definitely suggest the latest iPhones or high-end Androids like the Galaxy S series. They have great AR support.
Good to know! I’ve heard iPhones have better AR capabilities. Any specific models you recommend?
I think the iPhone 14 Pro is a solid pick for AR. The camera and sensors are top-notch for development.
What about tablets? Do you think iPad Pro would be good for AR too?
Absolutely! iPad Pro is excellent for AR and has a big screen for testing. Definitely worth it.
If you’re looking to do a mix of HMD and phone dev, maybe explore something like the Microsoft HoloLens too. It offers unique features.
I hadn’t thought of that! I’ll check it out. Thanks for the tip!
Definitely invest in a good headset and keep your software updated. That helps a lot in AR development.
For sure! Regular updates can really improve performance and add new features.
