I’ve recently stumbled upon random videos about AR glasses and I have to say they do get my curiosity high but there are way too many options. So I wondered if this forum has anyone who bought one recently and would like to provide their input on it. Thank you in advance!
Colour or monochrome (ie: Green)? What features are important to you?
Okay, no problem. Do you want to watch movies or see your phone’s screen on the glasses? If so, you want Birdbath Glasses but they’re not exactly that see-through if you want to do this as they need a dark cover over them for you to properly see what’s on the glasses’ display. Birdbath AR Glasses are for watching movies, playing something on them that’s tethered from a cable coming from your phone/Steamdeck/Gaming device/Tablet/Laptop/etc. These have at least 1080p screen resolution. If you just want notifications and information popping up on the screen when something wants to alert you, or to use navigation for directions, then you want Waveguide AR Glasses.
Waveguide Glasses also have lower resolution (around 640 x 480, sometimes only 640 x 400 usable). The exception being Even Realities G1 which only has 640 x 200 I think?
If you’re looking for media glasses, like the Xreal Air, then honestly whatever ones you can find cheapest is probably the best. They are all fairly similar at the moment. I still have the Xreal Air one and I don’t see any reason to change from them yet.
