What VR games can hit 120Hz with an RTX 3070... anyone know?

I’ve got an Intel i5-12400F, RTX 3070, and 16GB RAM, running a Quest 3 (non-S). I’m trying to figure out which VR games I can play at 120Hz with this setup. I’ve been searching for benchmarks for VR on the RTX 3070 but haven’t found anything solid. The games I’m most excited about are Bonelab, Blade and Sorcery, and Pavlov VR. Anyone have experience with similar setups or tips?

It’ll depend on your resolution settings and how okay you are with using spacewarp/reprojection sometimes. I’ve got a 4080 and I don’t even run Blade and Sorcery at 120fps. I play Zero Caliber and Rec Room at 120, though, plus some VR mods like Half-Life 2.

What’s spacewarp? Sorry, I’m kinda new to VR.

No worries! Spacewarp is a tech that fills in frames to make gameplay feel smoother if your hardware can’t hit full framerate. It’s not perfect but helps in a pinch.

Yeah, it’s like fake frames to boost smoothness, lol. Works decently for most games.

You can run most VR games at 120Hz if you lower the resolution or tweak the graphics settings. Just don’t expect it to look amazing.

That makes sense. Do you usually drop the resolution by a lot?

Depends on the game. For something like Beat Saber, not much. But for heavier games, yeah, sometimes a lot.

I’ve got a similar setup! Following this thread because I’m curious too.

I don’t have Bonelab or Pavlov, but I run an i7 11700KF with a 3070. I hit 120fps in Half-Life Alyx, H3VR, and Beat Saber on the Quest 3. Skyrim VR (heavily modded) runs at 60fps reprojected to 120, but I usually drop resolution and stick to 90Hz.

Interesting. Does reprojected 120 feel smooth enough?

It’s decent for some games. But if I can run at native 90fps, I usually prefer that over reprojected 120.

Some games will run at 120fps, others at 90fps, but your setup is solid enough to enjoy pretty much anything. Honestly, 90Hz is fine for most VR games unless you’re playing something like Beat Saber, where 120Hz really makes a difference.

Totally agree. Beat Saber at 120Hz is amazing, but for most games, I can’t really tell the difference.
