What’s the max fps we need in VR... any thoughts?

I’ve been diving into VR and I know most headsets run between 90 and 120 fps. I heard that 90 is kind of the bare minimum for a good experience. But I’m curious… is there a point where more frames just don’t really matter? Like, would a 480 fps headset actually feel any better than a 120 or 240 fps one? I’m just trying to wrap my head around it, so if anyone has insights, I’d love to hear them.

Totally get what you’re saying. There’s definitely a point of diminishing returns with frame rates. Some folks can notice differences at high rates, while others can’t see past 60 fps. It’s all about how our eyes perceive motion.

Yeah, it really varies by person. Some people can spot the difference up to 240 fps, while others are totally fine at 60 fps. I think companies like Meta and Valve have done a lot of research and found that 120 fps is a sweet spot for most users. Beyond that, it gets trickier.

I read somewhere that ultra-high frame rates can really help with display artifacts in VR. Like, Blur Busters mentioned that with high refresh rates, you can get rid of a lot of the motion blur and stroboscopic effects. That sounds cool.

Honestly, I think the tech is still catching up. Right now, I feel fine playing at 72 fps on my headset, but I can totally see how higher rates would help. Just can’t wait for the future tech to catch up to these high fps dreams.
