What platform to choose?

I’m about to start working on augmented reality projects with a class, and after using Vuforia for several years, I’m now forced to move away from it due to recent changes. At the moment, I’m unsure which alternative to choose. My goal is to create interactive books for kids with virtual buttons. What solution would you recommend that also supports building apps for Android? Thanks!
