Tried the MeganeX Superlight 8K... anyone else?

So I got my hands on the MeganeX Superlight 8K last night! I’ve owned a bunch of VR HMDs (started with the OG Vive), so I’m pretty experienced with VR tech. Tried it at a public event in Tokyo, and I gotta say, it lived up to the hype. Has anyone else checked this out yet? What’s your take?

Sounds awesome! How were the displays? I’ve heard the mOLED panels are next-level.

The displays were insane! 3.5x3.8k per eye with HDR… the colors and contrast were unreal. True OLED magic.

Wait, what’s HDR? I’m still new to this VR stuff lol.

HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. Basically, it makes colors more vivid and improves the contrast between light and dark. It’s a game-changer!

How’s the brightness compared to something like the Beyond? I’ve heard mixed things.

Definitely brighter than the Beyond, but not blinding like some LCDs. It’s perfect for those deep blacks and contrasty scenes.

Good to know! Does that mean it’s better for dark environments?

Exactly! I tested it in VRChat, and the dark environments looked stunning. The contrast makes it super immersive.

I heard it uses DP1.4a instead of DP2. Did you notice any visual artifacts?

No artifacts at all! DSC compression worked its magic, and it looked visually lossless. I was worried about that too, but it’s solid.

What’s DSC? Sorry if that’s a noob question.

Not noob at all! DSC stands for Display Stream Compression. It compresses data without losing visible quality. It’s why DP1.4a can handle such high res without issues.

How was the performance? Did the 4070 handle those crazy resolutions?

It struggled a bit at 90% resolution to keep 90fps, but image quality wasn’t affected. Still, a beefier GPU might help.

Makes sense. Would dropping to 80% resolution help performance without sacrificing too much quality?

Definitely worth a try. Even at 90%, it looked great, so 80% might still look solid while boosting fps.
