PSVR2 compared to the Quest 3

Hey folks! I got my Quest 3 when it launched and mainly use it for PC VR. I always felt like I was looking at a tiny monitor on my face because of the gray blacks. Recently, I picked up a PSVR2 for $350 at Best Buy to try out. They have a nice refund policy, so I figured, why not? At first, the mura effect was a bit off-putting, but after around 3 hours, I started to prefer it. Now that I’ve put about 50 hours into it, I definitely like it more than the Quest 3. The OLED blacks make such a big difference! Horror games and movies are way better; night scenes actually look like night! It feels so much more immersive.

That’s interesting! I’ve been curious about the PSVR2. How’s the setup compared to Quest 3?

Setup was super easy! I just used the ASUS BT adapter, and it worked instantly.

OLED blacks sound amazing, but what about performance in bright scenes? Does the mura affect that?

The mura is noticeable at first, but you kinda stop noticing it after a while. It’s not a dealbreaker for me.

You mentioned the controllers feel funky. Are they awkward to use during gameplay?

Yeah, they feel a bit weird at first, but you get used to them. Just takes some time.

Sounds like the PSVR2 is a solid option for dark games. Do you think it’s worth switching from Quest 3?

If you play a lot of horror or darker games, absolutely! The immersion is on another level.

What about sound? Does the PSVR2 have built-in audio? That’s a big factor for me.

Unfortunately, no built-in sound. You’ll need to use your own headphones, which is a bummer.
