I’m trying to find a VR system for my dad, who’s chair-bound with stage 4 cancer. He loves nature and I want him to have the experience of wandering around beautiful places while sitting in his recliner. I’m new to this, and I don’t even know if he can move in VR if he can’t walk. We don’t have a gaming PC, and I’d like to keep it under $750. Any recommendations for a system with lots of nature-based content? Thanks for your help
I think a Quest 3 would be great for him. It has a lot of nature experiences. Plus, you can get a comfortable strap for it since the original one isn’t very good.
Totally agree. The Quest 2 is cheaper, but if you can go for the Quest 3, the visuals are way better.
You should check out Wander and EarthQuest. They both let you explore all sorts of places. EarthQuest even has a flying mode, which sounds cool.
That sounds perfect. My grandma loved Brink Traveler, too. It’s super relaxing.
RealVR Fishing is also a nice one. Even if he’s not into fishing, just sitting by the water is relaxing.
I’ve heard great things about that. I think it’s more about the environment than the actual fishing.
Absolutely get him the Quest 3. Plus, look into getting lens inserts for his prescription. It’ll make it way more comfortable for him.
Good idea! I didn’t think about that. Glasses in a headset can be a hassle.
You might want to start with short sessions in VR to get him used to it. Many new users feel motion sickness at first.
How long should the sessions be? I’m worried he might not handle it well.
I’d suggest starting with 15 minutes a day for a couple of weeks. It helps with getting used to it without overwhelming him.
