I am working on a project and I would really like to get RAW images from the Hololens 2. If that’s not possible, I’m curious about the simplest level of photos I can actually get. Also, can it use controllers like the Vive ones instead of just relying on gestures? I think that could make things a lot easier.
I don’t think you can directly access RAW images from the Hololens 2. It usually outputs processed images instead. But if you’re okay with lower quality, you might be able to get something usable.
That’s good to know. What kind of processed images do you think I could work with?
You might get JPEGs or similar formats, which aren’t RAW but can still be decent for many applications. Just not as flexible for editing.
As for the controllers, I’m not sure if the Hololens 2 can work with Vive controllers. It seems to be more focused on hand gestures and voice commands.
So it really sticks to gestures, huh? That’s a bummer. I was hoping for more options.
Yeah, I get that. If you want more control options, you might need to look into other devices that support more types of input.
Have you checked the Hololens developer documentation? Sometimes they have updates or workarounds for accessing different formats.
I haven’t really looked into that yet. Do you think it’s worth checking?
Definitely. It could give you insights on what’s possible and any new features they might have added.
If RAW images are essential for your work, maybe consider using a different device that supports them better. Hololens is great, but it has its limitations.
That’s a fair point. I should look into other options if RAW is a must.
I think using controllers could really enhance the experience, especially for more complex tasks. It’s a shame it’s limited to gestures.
Exactly, having more input options would make a big difference. I hope future updates consider that.
