So I’ve got a Quest 2, and I know Stormlands isn’t officially available on it unless it’s through the Rift store. I just want to know if it’s even possible to play it on the Quest 2 somehow. Do I need to pay for it on mobile or PC and then use a link cable or AirLink? I’d prefer the simplest way if possible, so I don’t make things harder for myself. Or is this just wishful thinking? Any advice would help!
If you’ve got a PC that meets the specs for VR, just grab a link cable and play it through PCVR. That’s the easiest way.
Thanks! When you say ‘PCVR,’ you mean using the Quest 2 with my PC, right?
Yeah, exactly. You connect the Quest 2 to your PC via the link cable or AirLink, and you’re good to go!
You’ll need to buy the game on the Oculus PC store, then play it using either the link cable or AirLink. Virtual Desktop could work too.
What’s AirLink? Is it different from the link cable?
AirLink is wireless. It lets you stream games from your PC to your Quest over Wi-Fi. But you’ll need a strong connection for it.
Yeah, AirLink is cool, but I’d stick with the link cable if your Wi-Fi isn’t solid. It’s more reliable for games like Stormlands.
FYI, Stormlands is PCVR-only. You can’t play it standalone on the Quest 2.
Got it. So I’ll need a decent PC either way?
Yep, make sure your PC meets the VR requirements first. Otherwise, you’re out of luck.
I had the same question when I got my Quest 2! Just make sure your PC has the right specs and grab a link cable. Works perfectly.
Appreciate the tip! Any specific link cable you’d recommend?
The official Oculus one is great, but a good-quality USB-C cable works too. Just make sure it’s long enough!
I use Virtual Desktop for PCVR games, but you’ll need a solid Wi-Fi setup. If not, just stick with a cable.
Does Virtual Desktop add any lag compared to a cable?
A bit, but if your router is good, it’s barely noticeable. Just keep your PC and Quest on the same 5GHz network.
