Gurman: Lower cost Apple mixed reality HMD next year... Kuo: Delayed beyond 2027? 🤔

I came across some conflicting news about Apple’s mixed reality headset. Gurman claims there will be a lower-cost model next year, while Kuo says it’s delayed beyond 2027. What do you all think? Is one of these analysts off base?

Analyst Claims Affordable Apple Vision Pro Production Timeline Has Been Delayed Beyond 2027, Immediate Successor To Arrive In 2025 With Major SoC Upgrade

Kuo has been pretty inconsistent regarding the Apple Vision Pro. He’s contradicted himself on production numbers and sales, so I’m skeptical about his claims.

I can’t see Apple’s headset being priced over $3,500 for long. They could release a slightly cheaper version at around $2,500 and still make a big profit. Maybe both analysts are right—one is talking about a version at $2k-$2.5k, while the other is looking at a true budget model under $1,000 for 2027.

That’s a solid point! The market might shift by 2027, and people could prefer lighter smart glasses for everyday tasks instead of bulky headsets.

Smart glasses are definitely the future for me. I don’t want to wear a headset when I can already use glasses for a fraction of the cost.

Totally agree! Meta should really focus on smart glasses that connect to our phones and can perform well.

Apple’s main obstacle seems to be the screens. Unless they’ve found a way to secure quality screens, sales won’t grow. Until we hear more about the screens from those supply chain experts, it’s all speculation.

Next-gen micro OLED and LPDDR6 are expected around 2026, so that might change things.

I think Meta will come out with something way better and cheaper, honestly.
