EgoTouch: Touch Input on Your Body with AR/VR Headsets?

Just came across this interesting study on using body touch input for AR/VR experiences. Apparently, you can use your bare hands for input without any special gear, just with the RGB cameras in XR headsets. It could be a game changer for speed and accuracy in touch input! Anyone else find this cool?

That sounds really innovative! I always thought using hands for input would be more intuitive. How does it work exactly?

From what I read, it uses just the regular RGB camera to detect touch on your skin. It can even measure things like touch force and finger angles.

I wonder how it performs in different lighting. My room is usually dim, and I’m curious if that affects accuracy.

They mentioned it works well across diverse lighting conditions, so it should handle dim lights too. Sounds promising!

This could really change how we interact in VR. No more reaching for controllers! Just touch your skin.

Right? It sounds so much more natural. I can’t wait to see how developers implement this!

But what about different skin tones? I hope it works for everyone and isn’t biased.

Good point! The study claims it’s robust across diverse skin tones, which is definitely a plus.

Sounds cool but will it be practical in real life? I mean, walking around while using it seems tricky.

They tested it while walking and found it worked well, so it might actually be more practical than we think!
