Hi, I am a master’s student studying interaction design and I would love your thoughts on an Extended Reality project that could use some improvement or needs attention. Share some ideas that could inspire me or help me find a direction for my project.
Have you thought about using AR glasses for instruction? Teaching someone how to do any task with AR glasses could involve some complex UX structure. How would you guide someone through an instruction manual, like a LEGO build? For instance, could the glasses remember what step you were on if you took a break and took a picture when you sat down? Or maybe you could ask the glasses, ‘Where does this extra piece go?’ The technical aspect doesn’t have to be resolved in your design presentation, but just showing the workflow of how your UX would handle such requests could be really interesting.
I think an idea that could work well is an AR app that helps users visualize furniture in their homes before they buy it. You could create a simple interface where users can select pieces and see how they fit in their space. This could help reduce the hassle of returns and create a better shopping experience overall.
Another idea could be creating a mixed reality experience for local history. Imagine walking around a city and using AR to see historical events or figures at the exact locations they occurred. It could be educational and engaging, plus you could incorporate gamification to make it even more fun.
