Cheap augmented reality glasses

I am looking for a basic and affordable pair of AR glasses. I mainly want them for navigation while driving and to keep me entertained while running, like playing a road game or watching Netflix or Disney Plus. I don’t need anything fancy and hope to keep the cost around or under $400. Ideally, I would like to buy them from a major retailer like Amazon.

Any recommendations? Thanks.

I’m going to act as though I didn’t read the part about driving and Disney+ (I saw a guy driving on 280 reading a paper book at arm’s length, by the way).

This kind of thing is inexpensive. It functions by using a mirror to let the black portion of your screen show through. Things that aren’t black appear to float before your eyes. There are a few apps available specifically for this kind of effect, so you utilize your phone.

Sure, you can look like a doofus while jogging for $25, but hey, you’re living in the future, so what the heck!

Finding AR glasses under $400 that can handle navigation and entertainment is challenging due to the relatively new nature of AR technology. Two options are the Vuzix M400 and Rokid Air. The Vuzix M400 is a video glasses that project a small screen in front of the eye, connecting to your phone via Bluetooth or WiFi. It can display your GPS app and mirror your Netflix or Disney Plus app. However, it has limited resolution, a limited field of view, and can be bulky and uncomfortable. The Rokid Air, on the other hand, uses a near-eye display and has a built-in navigation system. However, it lacks a full display and basic navigation features. Battery life and comfort are also important factors to consider. The best choice depends on your specific needs and priorities.

I have been using the LeMuna smart glasses for some time now and I can urge to go for the same as they go for $129 on amazon and are durable

For basic and affordable AR glasses that meet your needs, I recommend the Mira Prism. It’s a lightweight and budget-friendly option that allows for basic navigation and entertainment functions while driving or running.

While it may not have all the advanced features of high-end AR glasses, such as advanced navigation or high-quality entertainment streaming, it offers a simple and accessible solution within your budget. I’ve been using the Mira Prism for some time now, primarily for navigation assistance during outdoor activities like hiking and running. It’s been reliable and convenient for basic tasks, and the affordability makes it a great option for those looking to dip their toes into the world of AR without breaking the bank.

Companies such as TCL and Xreal have developed cost-effective AR smart glasses that are currently available for purchase.

Hi, Cressida. Quest 3 is arguably the best. Lots of development materials and a fantastic place to start.
